The HHI program is definitely a good thing, I agree. This said, it's important that things that are not so good that are associated with it, such as faulty water filtration systems and people giving lectures at the institute that condone meat eating, are scrutinised and sorted out properly.
I am glad you only had lumps and not cancer. I feel a bit daft however, because what you said at the Breast Cancer Haven, about healing yourself from cancer, I passed on to others; telling them that you had healed yourself from that particular disease. This I now find not to be true. Will the people I told believe me in future, when I tell them that eating living food might make them feel great? Let's hope so. It's a bit of a nuisance :)
Life is such a gift, as is responsability and knowledge (all part of life.) It would be easy for me to just ooh and ahh about all that is great and say absolutely nothing about things that are far from perfect. I view that as being irresponsible, so I speak up. I was given a voice, along with an incredible ability to heal and live and enjoy life, which I do and am doing.
If things that need looking into at HHI aren't sorted out, then what is quite a wonderful healing system will always be open to being discredited. It is important that it is got right, that what people say about their personal healing journey is unambiguous and true, and that when a water system might breakdown, clients are duly warned. That way the good thing (HHI) remains good, and open.
So much was excellent at HHI. Unfortunately a few things were dire and certainly at odds with the ethos so ardently promoted.
One evening at HHI, a chap gave a talk / lecture about a detox centre he was running. he said that clients could eat what they wanted, including meat from his nearby organic farm. When I questioned him regarding the eating of meat, (which HHI is so opposed to) he told me that the research he had carried out, clearly showed that meat eating was important for humans. He said that every human society ate meat, whether in the form of grubs, fish, insects etc.
During the lecture he referred to Robin, a worker at HHI, for validation as to the comfort and beauty of his centre, as she had stayed there.
Afterwards I asked Robin if she had any connections with the man, other than having been his guest. She told me that she had a working / business relationship with him and was promoting his detox centre. She also told me that everybody needed healing, that it was about helping the meat eaters to heal and that they needed healing too. Even so, I really can't see why HHI allowed that talk to take place at the institute, when HHI constantly state that eating meat is harmfull to health. The talk was advertised on the noticeboard in the same style as all the other talks. It took place in the main HHI lecture room, which gave it a sort of HHI endorsment.
The talk completely contradicted the HHI ethos.
The same could be said for Dr Joe's approach to healing (he said that in my case he would have suggested surgery! Not very self healing...)
I travelled a long way to get to HHI. In part because of prior reading and people I'd met and heard. I also went there after hearing Brian and Anna Marie speak. At the talk, self healing was extolled and we were told that HHI had water filters. That did it for me. I knew I had to get in situ at HHI and learn how, as soon as possible. In the info I'd read, written by Brian, among others, water filtration and the avoidance of chlorine, is indicated as extremely important, as is abstaining from animal protein....Sometime before going to HHI, I had filters put on my drinking water and shower system at home. I took what I read very seriously.
There's masses that's good from HHI, that I use on a daily basis. Masses. Ken's helpful knowledge for one, has made preparing food come 'alive' for me, as did the wheatgrass growing classes and tuition in sprouting. Having such wonderful food and juices prepared and ready on a daily basis was such a blessing; I so enjoyed the food. However, I believe the things that are off key at HHI need addressing. They need addressing because they knock people's faith at a time when faith is dearly needed. They need addressing because I had about two weeks of worry during my three week stay and that shouldn't have happend (I travelled a very long way to get to HHI.) They need addressing because they do HHI and the 'Life Change' living food ethos, no service whatsoever.
We all need to accept responsibility, each and every one of us. This includes HHI, you and me.
If ever you're inclined to, come and have lunch. Sunflower sprouts will be on the menu. x
I saw you give a juicing demo once and I thought you mentioned it then. Have you cured yourself of it? All the best.

Wow, I love your enthusiasm. I am in the health educator's program right now and would love to teach, lecture and consult like you...how'd you get started? I guess it's all about confidence.
I have some friends who live in England (not London) and they say organic food is hard to find. Nice to see the UK Raw community is growing!
