What brought you to Hippocrates?
I lived in a raw food vegetarian community in the late 70s which Viktoras Kulvinskas visited ... since then I've gone raw for stretches of time ... Ann Wigmore and Viktoras have been my bibles in the past.

Lately I've been more into just whole foods and due to stress apparantly my spleen is very deficient etc and I've suddenly -- after years and years of big salads -- can't seem to digest raw veggies unless they are blended.

Anyway, I was so inspired by the movie trailer of diabetics going out to AZ to Dr Cousen's Tree of Life that I got in touch with my heart's passion--to introduce people to the miracle of raw foods, detoxing and nourishing in a vibrant way.

I hope to find people somewhat near my area. I know I'm out in the sticks! :-)

Addendum: since this writing I've been digesting salads very well and gone into green smoothies plus raw foods with great success (except for cravings which is another story.)

I dealt with the spleen issue "worry" and used turmeric on my soaked then slow cooked brown rice ... that made a big difference.

Addendum #2 As of Jan. 3, 2009: I've discovered Global Juice Feasting and am very impressed. I hope you too may benefit from www.juicefeast.com and utilize the expertise and level of support. I plan to begin the March Juice Feast. As of today I am committed to adding one green smoothie (one quart) a day to my diet and transitioning to 100% raw as I let go of my vices--sushi and black coffee!

I hope to be mentored on the juice feast and become a certified juice feast mentor this year!! hooray!! :D

Raw

I didn't stay raw.

I have a large percentage raw.

Yesterday I tried soaked brown rice with lentil. It didn't help me. I have some stress-related symptoms. I need to exercise. I feel I am undernourished and green smoothies would help me.

i need a blender.

Today

I woke up with a food hangover. Emotional hangover and knowing my attitude was pretty negative.

I spent the day on apple juice while really deeply discussing things with my Manager/Mentor BF. Yes we were at Starbucks. Yes I had soy latte with whey protein.

I moved through a lot of blocks both physically and emotionally etc and ended up using apple juice all day until after the 90 minute elliptical and I had a smoothie with raw hunza peaceful planet mix and homemade raw rice milk.

As I studied… Continue

Day 5 Raw

I guess today is day 5. I managed to stay raw for dinner after tiny tastes of cooked beets and turkey meatloaf while at the organic food store.

I woke all achey and hungry but was glad I had fruit and greens smoothie for dinner along with some trail mix.

I definitely need to soak my nuts as they just wrench my stomach the next day if I eat them unsoaked.

Anyway, I feel pretty icky because I haven't been exercising. If I try to do raw foods and don't exercise it's a bad combination. So move it… Continue

almond milk

The only thing I had at the party was water and a cup of almond milk. in a carton so probably *not* raw.

But I feel so much better already.

I lost a couple pounds but today I am determined to focus on toning my butt on the ellipticial and then afterward with lunges and dead lifts. I'm pretty much almost to where my goals are.

In the past when I went raw I became too alkaline too fast and it taxed my kidneys, I became pale and lost muscle tone. I am determined to eat a lot and work out this ti… Continue
